to live, to grow, to flourish

The word “crescat” comes from the Latin word meaning “to grow.”

The phrase “vivat, crescat, floreat,” or “to live, to grow, to flourish,” as seen above, has made its way into English speakers’ consciousness (though only in obscure settings, I admit) in the form of old family mottos and obscure academia. I’ll spare you the grammar lesson, but for our intents and purposes, the best translation of the phrase is as a wish or a blessing, something like “May they live, may they grow, may they flourish!”

This, of course, is the blessing I extend to you. I am so glad you’re here. I believe that humans have the natural tendency to move toward growth, but there are so many things that get in our way or derail us completely. Many of these obstacles are of our own making.

But there is hope. And there is a way, or perhaps many different ways, that you can move forward from where you are. I would love to support you as you figure out how you came to be here and where you want to go next.

“We do not ask life what the meaning of life is. Life asks us, what is the meaning of your life. And life demands our answer.”

Viktor Frankl, Man’s Search For Meaning
